• Congratulations to Tammy Braun, a school counselor at Timberland High School, who has been named the 2019-2020 Secondary School Counselor of the Year by the Missouri School Counselor Association (MSCA). Braun was eligible for the award after having been named the Secondary School Counselor of the Year in January by the St. Louis Suburban School Counselor Association.

Braun has worked for the Wentzville School District since 2007. She is the secretary of the Missouri School Counselor Association, a co-sponsor of Timberland’s National Honor Society, and serves on the school’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Committee and Trauma Team. She has implemented a number of new programs at Timberland to strengthen connections with parents and students, including “Coffee with the Counselors” meetings each quarter to answer parent questions, a staff support group focusing on self-care, stress management, and avoiding compassion fatigue, online counselor appointment requests, and a “Counselor Cafe” on Fridays where counselors are available during lunch to assist students.

“The Timberland family is very proud of Tammy Braun for being selected as Counselor of the Year in the state of Missouri,” said Principal Dr. Kyle Lindquist. “Tammy does a wonderful job servicing the students and staff and we consider ourselves fortunate to have such a caring and hard working counselor at THS. Congratulations to Tammy Braun on this well-deserved honor!”

Braun will have an opportunity to present during the MSCA fall conference November 3-4 in Osage Beach and will be honored at the MSCA Gala Event on November 23 at the Missouri State Capitol Building in Jefferson City.
