Congratulations to Sonya Ahmad, Lily Fisher, Hannah Kuhlmann, Olivia Riek, and Melissa Rogge, who have been selected to attend the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State of Missouri. Delegates are selected based on their leadership abilities, interest in government, service to others and academics. The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program, founded in 1940 at William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri, changes lives by bringing together dynamic young women for an intense week developing leadership skills, patriotism and a sense of community. The participants actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government.
The 79th session of Missouri Girls State will be held at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg from June 23-29. Local sponsors include American Legion Auxiliary Unit 323, the Wentzville Community Club, the Wentzville Rotary Club, and the Timberland All-Sports Booster Club.
