Six North Point High School (NPHS) publication students traveled to Philadelphia, Pa., for the Fall Journalism Education Association (JEA)/National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) National High School Journalism Convention Nov. 7-10. Each student entered one national contest, and students Sophia Gruntman and Maggie Wallace walked away with national award recognitions.

Gruntman earned an honorable mention in the sports caption writing category, and Wallace earned an honorable mention in the academic caption writing category. 

NPHS attendees included Maggie Wallace, Sophia Gruntman, Haddie Shasteen, Kyla Clayton, Carleigh Brittingham, and Parker Billingham. In addition to the national contests, they participated in several sessions learning from professional and high school journalists from across the nation. 

"This was our journalism program's first experience at a national level conference, and I was honored to have these amazing six students represent our school,” Sydney Swanson, North Point High School publications adviser said.
