The Wentzville School District Gifted Education Program recognizes the need to motivate and challenge gifted students. Identified gifted students require learning experiences that specifically address their unique and exceptional learning abilities, which include having an advanced knowledge and learning capacity. Gifted students also require differentiated curriculum and services that are advanced in content and pace. The Gifted Education Program (Horizons) is designed to provide challenge and enrichment to identified gifted students. A differentiated curriculum emphasizing critical thinking, problem solving, and creative thinking skills is provided through interdisciplinary instruction. Students explore areas of personal interest and aptitude not typically provided in the general education program. In addition, social and emotional aspects of each student are recognized, considered, and nurtured.
For more information on having your child tested for Gifted, contact your child’s School Guidance Counselor.
