Holt HS Junior Excels at Girls Tennis State Championships

Jenny Nelson, a determined Holt High School junior, made a significant mark on the 2024 tennis season. As the school's number one singles player, she consistently showcased her skill and dedication on the court.

Nelson’s journey to the state tournament was marked by hard work and perseverance. She secured a second-place finish in the Class 1 District 4 tournament, earning her a well-deserved spot among the state's top tennis players.

At the state tournament, Nelson faced tough competition. Despite a loss to Clayton in the first round, she bounced back with a thrilling victory over Notre Dame St. Louis in the second round. This historic win marked her first-ever state tournament victory, a testament to her hard work and talent.

Although her run ended in the third round against Hannibal, Nelson’s impact on the team was undeniable. Coach Stephen Alter expressed his pride in her accomplishments. Alter commended her dedication and hard work throughout the season, highlighting her potential for future success. As Nelson enters her senior year, she is poised to continue her success and leave a lasting legacy on the Holt tennis program.
