WSD Launches Comprehensive Approach to Student Success
Sept. 18, 2024
The Wentzville School District is taking a proactive approach to academic excellence by implementing the Comprehensive Integrated Three Tier Model of Prevention (Ci3T) district-wide this school year. This model aims to provide targeted support to students at all levels, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Here’s how it works for students:
Tier 1: Universal Support: This is the foundation for all students. Everyone receives these general supports, which include things like high-quality instruction, positive classroom climate, and school-wide behavioral expectations.
Tier 2: Targeted Support: Students who need extra help, even if they're doing well overall, receive targeted support. This could involve small group instruction, targeted interventions for specific academic or behavioral challenges, or additional resources.
Tier 3: Intensive Support: Students who require more significant support receive intensive interventions. This might include individualized instruction, counseling, or specialized programs.
Through this model, the WSD aims to serve 80% of its students through Tier 1, 10-15% of students in Tier 2, and 5-8% of students in Tier 3.
By implementing Ci3T, the District seeks to support teachers and enhance instruction by providing educators with valuable resources, ideas, and opportunities to strengthen their teaching practices, ultimately benefiting all students. It's a proactive approach that aims to prevent problems before they become severe and to provide targeted support to students who need it.
