Fifteen Student-Athletes Have Podium Finish at State Track and Field Meet

The Wentzville School District saw students from all four high schools attend the Missouri State High School Athletic Associations (MSHSAA) Boys and Girls Track and Field, Class 4 & 5, Championships at the Dennis and Roberta Licklider Track on May 24-25 in Jefferson City, Mo.
Senior David Macklin of Holt High School competed in the MSHSAA State Championship Class 4 Triple Jump. Macklin’s leap of 12.56 meters earned him a 14th-place finish in the competition.

Liberty High School had several athletes compete in the MSHSAA Class 5 State Championships. Senior Conner Place set a new school record at 14.13 meters in the Triple Jump, earning third place and All-State honors. Junior Kaileb Rhen finished 11th in the shot put.

In the girls 4x800 meters, a new school record of 9:28.47 was set, awarding senior Imane Larhdiri, junior Jillian Kalbac, sophomore Kailey Lawrence, and freshman Bella Navarro-Sanchez, a sixth place finish and All-State Honors. In the boys 4x800 meters, senior Nolan Schlattman, and juniors Cale Eldredge, Landon Jones, and Ayden Taylor set a new school record of 7:55.94. The team earned an eighth-place finish and All-State honors.

Senior Nolan Schlattman competed in the 800 meters, setting a new school record at 1:55.64 and finishing in ninth place. Freshman Bella Navarro-Sanchez set a new school record in the 800 meters at 2:14.11 and secured All-State honors with her fourth-place finish.

Junior Ayden Talor competed in both the 1600 and 3200 meters, setting new school records and All-State honors in both races with his eighth-place finish (4:12.83) and sixth-place finish (9:16.03), respectively.

North Point High School competed in the MSHSAA Class 4 State Championships. Senior Mitchell Pyatt was the only Grizzly to compete in any field events at the championships; he gave his all in Javelin at this year's meet.

Juniors Alyssa Anderson and Sarah Saunders, and sophomores Gabrielle Robinson and Ayamba (Faith) Abunaw, finished state runner-ups in the girls 4x200 meters. The team set a new school record with a time of 1:41.63, securing the fourth-fastest overall time in the state this year and All-State Honors.

In the boys 4x100 meters, seniors Mitchell Pyatt and Trey Trennepohl and juniors Carl Clark and Alex Lacke placed seventh in the state and earned All-State Honors. This came after the team broke their school record during preliminaries.

In the girls 4x100 meters, junior Elena Pender and sophomores Ayamba (Faith) Abunaw, Gabrielle Robinson, and Cali Moller finished in eighth place, securing their All-State honors.

Finishing third in the state the girls 4x400 meter, juniors Alyssa Anderson and Sarah Saunders and sophomores Ayamba (Faith) Abunaw and Gabrielle Robinson, set a new school record with their time of 3:58.40. Seniors Trey Trennepohl and Gavin Wicklund and juniors Alex Lacke and Brady Trennepohl competed in the boys 4x400 meters, placing seventh. Both teams have been awarded All-State Honors.

Junior Alyssa Anderson took on the 400-meter Dash, placing sixth in state, after breaking the school record in prelims with a time of 57.18 seconds. Sophomore Mitchell Lerner ran in the 3200 meters; he ran a great race, finishing sixth and earning All-State Honors.

Junior Sarah Saunders took on the 100-meter hurdle event, breaking her school record and placing 11th. Sophomore Ayamba (Faith) Abunaw competed in the 100-meter Dash, running her second-fastest time ever and finishing 11th.

Timberland High School competed in the MSHSAA Class 5 state championships for Girls Track and Field. Sophomore Alexa Adams had a great run at the state championships, finishing state runner-up in the 100-meter Hurdles and eighth place in the 100-meter Dash. In the 4x200-meter relay team, junior Gabrelle Tucker and sophomores Zariya Brown, Knia Graham, and Paityn Slezak finished 12th.
