PATHWAYS INTERNSHIP (Course #H9240) Practical Art Credit
GRADE 12
Semester 1.5 Credits
Prerequisite: Meet application criteria and submit application.
This is a semester-long internship course in a position related to a student’s selected pathway. This is a 3-Hour Release Course. Students must submit an application to the Ignite Coach and be selected prior to enrollment in the course. Credit is awarded to students who work a minimum of 20 hours per week and complete work-related assignments. Regular visits are made to the training station to observe the student and discuss his/her progress with the employer. Students are graded by a combined teacher-employer evaluation. Students in Business, Marketing, or FACS pathways should select the internships specific to their pathway listed in the Business, Marketing, or FACS portion of the course guide.
IGNITE (Course #H6144, #H6444) Practical Art Credit
GRADES 11, 12
Year-long Course: 3 units of credit per year
Prerequisite: Meet application criteria and submit application.
The goal of IGNITE is to provide students with the opportunity to put into action durable skills: critical thinking, communication, teamwork, collaboration, problem solving, creativity and problem-solving through an entrepreneurial journey. Want to put your skills into action? Always wanted to make money from your ideas? Do you want to learn and create in your own business environment while learning from seasoned professionals that will mentor you along the way? Then this capstone course is for you. This course enables students to learn by way of an incubator facility where students gain confidence and education from local business owners that serve as their advisors under the guidance of a WSD teacher. Students will participate in field experiences to enhance their learning. In the course students will have the opportunity to create a profitable business from conception, product creation, to taxes. Learning the entire entrepreneurial process from start to finish. Any student with an idea or an entrepreneurial spirit can apply. This is a Capstone course for ANY Pathway and open to juniors and seniors.
St. Charles County CAPS
St. Charles County CAPS provides high school students in St. Charles County with a pre-professional, innovative and entrepreneurial education through career-oriented experiences that are both hands-on and real-world. St. Charles County CAPS students are immersed in professional environments, engaging in curriculum developed by industry professionals and program instructors - ensuring that what is taught in the classroom is relevant to the workforce. Learning is enhanced by project work directly from industry partners who engage to mentor students and ensure timely, accurate and real project results.
Learning at St. Charles County CAPS is real-time, real-world, and hands-on. Emphasis is placed on developing professional skills, such as communication and collaboration, which employers deem highly important to individual success.
Students attend the CAPS program for half of their school day and the other half is at their home school. The morning CAPS session is from 7:30 AM to 10 AM and the afternoon session is from 12 PM - 2:30 PM. Students who participate in St. Charles County CAPS must provide their own transportation to and from their home school and the business site. 95% attendance is expected to remain in the course.
A complete application is required to apply. CAPS interviews may occur as well for strand placement purposes. The SCC CAPS application and deadline to apply can be found under Enrollment on the SCC CAPS website - scccaps.org.

COURSE ENROLLMENT
A. Registration Limits: Students participating in the Program must take one course per year at
Ranken. Courses will be taken following the Ranken course calendar.
B. Process for Student Registration: Once a student has completed the WSD and Ranken
application processes and has received official notification of their enrollment in the
Program students will be eligible for approved coursework at Ranken.
C. Course Descriptions: Course descriptions are available in the Ranken Course Catalog
available electronically at https://ranken.edu/find-your-career-path/course-catalog/.
D. Scheduling: A Ranken designated admissions counselor will schedule the student for classes.
E. Dropping/Failing: Dropping or failing a Ranken course may impact the student’s ability to
continue in the Program.
FEATURED PROGRAM
Electrical Automation Technology (pages 66-68 in the Ranken Course Guide )
Through lecture and shop/lab activities, first year students receive instruction and training in electrical theory, solid-state electronics and logic control, installing electrical systems, power distribution and the National Electric Code (NEC). During the second year, students gain experience with single- and three-phase motors, variable frequency motor drives, motion control, ladder diagrams, advanced control logic, industrial control networking and programmable logic controllers. In addition, EAT graduates are versed in the layout, installation and blueprint reading of commercial and industrial wiring in new construction projects. Graduates earn an associate of technology or associate of science degree and enter the workforce as maintenance electricians with some of the largest companies in St. Louis. Career opportunities in the field include commercial/industrial electricians, electrical control technicians and electrical maintenance/service technicians. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to: • Construct electrical circuits utilizing National Electrical Code guidelines • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial, commercial, and residential electrical systems. • Program and configure equipment controlling various types of electrical motors and automated processes.

St.Charles Community College WSD Welding Program

The SCCC Welding program provides WSD Students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning in a professional welding environment. Successful students will have the opportunity to earn high school credit, college credit, & industry-recognized credentials:

•AWS (American Welding Society)- SMAW

Students will be required to complete WorkKeys testing and must score at a least a 3 or bronze on the exam to participate in the course. Students will test in Workplace Documents, Graphic Literacy, and Applied Mathematics at SCC.

Students MUST maintain a 95% attendance rate throughout the course; if a student's attendance falls far enough below a 95% attendance rate, the student will be removed from the program.

Students will be expected to exhibit professional behavior at all times; failure to do so may result in removal from the program.

Professional standards include wearing appropriate attire, avoiding phone use during class, using respectful communication with staff and classmates, and demonstrating teamwork.

Students who are removed from the program due to behavior or attendance will be subject to WSD procedures for schedule changes and dropped classes, which may include receiving a failing grade for the Welding Program on the student's final transcript.
St.Charles Community College WSD MegaTech Program

Mega Tech is an SCC program that provides WSD Students with hands-on learning as they explore Mechanics, Electronics, Robotics and Computing used in the creation of smarter systems in automation and manufacturing through simulation and project-based activities. Successful students will have the opportunity to earn high school credit, college credit, & industry-recognized credentials:

GRADE 12
One Semester - 1.5 credits

St. Charles Community College WSD CNA Program
Students in the WSD have the opportunity to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) while in high school through the Allied Health Program at St. Charles Community College.
The program is available for 15 students, per semester, and students are accepted into the program through an application process (see below). This program will run in both the fall and spring semesters (pending enrollment).
Tuition for the course is paid by the Wentzville School District. Students will be responsible for the purchase of a pair of scrubs for the certification exam fee.
Students will attend class on SCC campus at the Allied Health building and/or participate in clinicals (at an off-campus site TBD) starting at 7:00 AM and will return in time for 6th hour.
Students must provide their own transportation to both the Allied Health campus and the nursing home for clinical hours.
Carpenters Union Apprenticeship Program
Wentzville School District is officially recognized as a U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) Registered Apprenticeship Program Sponsor! The WSD and the Mid America Carpenters Regional Council have teamed up to create real world learning experiences for our Wentzville students. Qualified students will apply for the apprenticeship program earning competitive wages, while working in the carpentry field with local businesses in conjunction with their WSD Industrial Technology curriculum.
