Wentzville School District IGNITE Your Future Program:

Want to put your skills into action?  Always wanted to make money from your ideas?  Do you want to learn and create in your own business environment while learning from seasoned professionals that will mentor you along the way?  Then this capstone course is for you.

This course enables students to learn by way of an incubator facility where students gain confidence and education from local business owners that serve as their advisors under the guidance of a WSD teacher.  In the course, students will have the opportunity to create a profitable business from conception, product creation, to taxes.  Learning the entire process.

An outcome of the Wentzville School District Ignite Incubator is that a student or team of student entrepreneurs may take their product/service to market.  Business partners and mentors provide free business consulting to support the incorporation of student associate-operated businesses.  Student entrepreneurs are responsible for fees associated with registering their business affiliation.  The business is owned and operated by student entrepreneurs.  Students are responsible for their own business decisions and responsibilities.  Students must be 18 in order to open an LLC, Shopify account and business bank account. If they are not 18, students can include someone over 18 in their business to meet those legal requirements.

Any student with an idea or an entrepreneurial spirit can apply. This is a capstone experience for ANY Pathway.  Students will participate in field experiences to enhance their learning.

The following are requirements and commitments you and your student would be making as participants of this program.

Students will attend class from 7:30-10:30 am daily at Pearce Hall.

    • Be able to provide own transportation to and from Pearce Hall, 317 West Pearce Blvd. Wentzville, MO 63385
    • Students will earn 1.5 high school credits per semester for the course.
    • Students MUST maintain a 95% attendance rate throughout the course; if a student's attendance falls far enough below a 95% attendance rate that a student cannot average 95% attendance, the student will be removed from the program.
    • Students will be expected to exhibit professional behavior at all times; failure to do so may result in removal from the program.
    • Students who are removed from the program due to behavior or attendance will be subject to WSD procedures for schedule changes and dropped classes, which may include receiving a failing grade for the Welding Program on the student's final transcript.
