The Wentzville School District named Jackie Mercurio the 2024-25 District Substitute of the Year in a surprise announcement April 15 with students, her family, and building and district administrators at Crossroads Elementary, where she was on a substitute assignment.

She has been a substitute in the WSD for seven years. 

“Jackie helps provide a place for our staff and students to feel like they belong, are cared for, and have a person they can depend upon,” said Dr. Damian Fay, principal at Crossroads Elementary. 

Substitutes play a vital role in the success of the WSD by ensuring our students receive a consistent, quality education throughout the school year. 

“She is our go-to, and it means a lot to have a consistent person we can depend upon,” said Dr. Fay. “When Jackie is here at Crossroads it feels like she is one of our full-time staff. She knows our building, our students, and our staff!”
