WSD Welcomes Record Enrollment for Start of 2024-25 School Year

Aug. 23, 2024

The Wentzville School District (WSD) kicked off the 2024-25 school year with an increase in student enrollment. The District welcomed 17,708 kindergarten through 12th grade students, surpassing last year's total of 17,587. Additionally, early childhood programs have 444 students enrolled at the start of the school year.

“We were excited to begin the 2024-2025 school year," said Brian Bishop, interim superintendent. "It is great to have the buzz of our students back in our schools. This is going to be an incredible year for the WSD.”

This year marks the implementation of the District's new strategic plan, which focuses on academic excellence, resources, and belonging. The plan outlines clear goals and strategies to enhance educational outcomes and address challenges.

The District’s new mission is to champion excellence in education, creating a student-centered community where all are empowered to thrive and grow.

Another notable change this year is the unification of Heritage Elementary School. Previously operating as two separate schools (Heritage Primary and Heritage Intermediate), the entire school is now under the leadership of Dr. Kim Walters. This merger aims to create a more cohesive environment with improved communication and a unified vision.

“What truly excites me is the immense potential we have for cohesiveness and growth,” said Dr. Walters. “Continuity will not only be helpful for our students and staff but also our families. I'm excited to be a part of the team that unites Heritage under one roof.”

The WSD is home to one early childhood center, 12 elementary schools, four middle schools, and four high schools. We also have adaptive and alternative learning centers.
