WSD Teacher Named VFW Post 5327 Teacher of the Year
Patti Chadduck, a special education teacher at Stone Creek Elementary in the Wentzville School District, has been selected as the Elementary Teacher of the Year by Wentzville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5327.
Chadduck, who has worked for the WSD since 2003, was nominated by a parent at her school. “Patti deserves recognition for going above and beyond, ensuring that every student can learn and be successful at Stone Creek. Perhaps the best thing about having Patti work with my child is that she truly cares about him,” shared the parent. “You can tell in her kind approach and how she constantly seeks opportunities to challenge and help students reach their goals. Kids walk away from working with Patti feeling better about themselves, and they build a connection to school and the community. One of the best ways to promote civic responsibility is to bring out the best in each student. Patti does this every day and with every interaction.”
The VFW annually recognizes the nation’s top elementary, middle and high school teachers through the VFW Smart/Maher National Citizenship Education Teacher Award. Local VFW posts start by awarding their own Teacher of the Year for consideration in their District. District winners are then eligible for state recognition and state winners are eligible for national recognition. Chadduck will advance to Missouri District 9, which encompasses all or parts of Audrain, Callaway, Lincoln, Montgomery, St. Charles, and Warren counties for consideration as a District winner.
