Welcome to WSD Parents as Teachers

The Parents As Teachers Program is a free and voluntary early-learning program for parents with children from birth to school age. The program is run on the premise that parents are their children's first and most influential teachers.

A mosaic collage of six square photos with the Wentzville School District logo in the middle shows the Parents As Teachers program. Activities in the photos include building toys, walking outdoors, children dressing up, toddlers playing in flour, an adult teaching a child to read, and a toddler pretending to be a doctor.

Our Goal

Our main goal is to give parents the information, help, and encouragement they need to help their children grow up well during their very important early years.

Our program starts by giving you advice before your baby is born. We set up personal visits from experts we call Certified Child Development Specialists. We also have group meetings so parents can learn new things and share what they know. We give you information about what to expect as your child grows and learns. Finally, we offer regular check-ups to see how your child is doing with learning, hearing and seeing, and getting along with others.
