ACT/SAT Testing
National Testing
The ACT offers seven national test dates, on Saturdays, open to all students. The closest test centers are Timberland, Holt, and Fort Zumwalt West. Visit www.act.org to view test dates, deadlines, fees, and to register. Seniors, many colleges will take your scores throughout your senior year. Include your high school code so the scores are sent to your high school. Include college codes so that scores will be sent directly to the schools you are considering, as you will need to pay to send scores after your testing date. Juniors considering a 4-year college/university are encouraged to take the ACT no later than Spring of this year. Many juniors will take a December or February test. Decisions on when to start testing depend on post-secondary plans. Visit with your College and Career Counselor for more information.
The first time you register online for an ACT, you will have to create a user account. If you previously took the Statewide ACT (as a junior), you can link your new account to this existing test score. When you are creating the account, indicate that you HAVE taken an ACT test before. You will be asked to provide your ACT-ID number, which can be found on your ACT Score Report.
All colleges and universities that use test scores for admissions will accept both ACT and SAT test scores, and do not have a preference. Students should review individual college and university policies to determine whether or not they need to send test scores as part of their application process. If a college uses a "test optional" admissions process, students can speak to their college and career counselor and college admissions representatives to determine when it is recommended to submit test scores.
The SAT offers six national test dates, on Saturdays, open to all students. The closest test center is Liberty. View www.sat.org to view test dates, deadlines, fees, and to register.

High School Program Options
The Wentzville School District offers a variety of specialized programs that allow students to earn college credit, explore careers, gain real-world experience, and develop skills that prepare them for college and the workforce. These opportunities provide flexible pathways for students to challenge themselves academically while also gaining hands-on learning experiences.
Dual Enrollment
Students may have the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school through dual enrollment programs offered in partnership with local colleges and universities. The document below serves as a hub of resources with information and links to the institutions available to our students, along with details about participation requirements and next steps.
Students interested in participating should contact your counselor for more information. Participation in dual enrollment is voluntary, and any associated tuition, fees, and related costs are the responsibility of the student and their parent/guardian.
Scholarships
College Athletics
Students wishing to continue on with athletics in college are encouraged to begin research early in the process surrounding athletic eligibility and transitioning from high school to college athletics.
Important reminders for student athletes and their parents:
- Students should review the academic standards required to participate in collegiate athletics in NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA. If students fail to meet those requirements, they may not be eligible to play college-level sports immediately after graduation. NCAA approved courses are marked in the high school course guide.
- Each athletic association operates under different rules and policies, including when and how often a coach can contact an athlete. Be aware of these rules!
- Admission to a college or university is separate from being selected for a college team. Students still must complete the college application process, adhering to the deadlines established by the Admissions Office.
- Students should speak to their high school coaches by at least junior year to discuss likely options for post-high school athletics.
NCAA, Division I, and II: Students who plan to participate in college athletics at NCAA Division I or Division II schools should register with the NCAA Eligibility Center by the spring of their junior year. Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to begin the process. If you’re not yet in high school or secondary school, register for a Profile Page account.

4 Year College
Four-Year College Application Timeline
1. Do your research before applying to colleges. Research helps save time and money. Apply only to schools you are genuinely interested in attending. For most students, this is between two and five schools.
2. Apply by the college’s fall scholarship deadline. Deadlines vary by school. Most applications are completed online. If you do not know your class rank, look at your grades tab in Focus. Most colleges charge an application fee, so apply only to schools you are seriously considering. Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch may be eligible for an application fee waiver. Speak with your counselor or your school’s College and Career Counselor for assistance.
3. Use the Common Application if available. Many colleges use the Common Application, which allows students to complete one application and submit it to multiple schools electronically. Monitor your application progress through the Common Application website. Teachers and counselors may need reminders about recommendation deadlines. Students are encouraged to waive their right to view letters of recommendation, as this shows confidence in the recommender, but this decision is up to the student.
4. Apply for scholarships offered directly by each college. Automatic scholarships usually require only the admissions application. Competitive scholarships often require additional materials such as essays, recommendation letters, or a separate application. Check for scholarships offered by specific academic majors.
5. Request letters of recommendation early. Provide teachers with at least two weeks’ notice. Complete the Request for Recommendation Letter form and submit the request through XELLO. Include a resume or list of activities. If the letter must be mailed, provide a stamped and addressed envelope. If it must be sent electronically, provide the correct email address or website. Follow up with a thank-you note. You may request a general letter so it can be used for multiple schools or scholarships.
6. Request that your high school transcript be sent to each college. Forms are available in the guidance office or through links on the school website. Submit one transcript request form per school. Addresses are required only for out-of-state schools. If you are using the Common Application or another electronic system, a paper transcript is not required.
7. Send ACT scores to colleges if required. Check each college’s website to determine whether ACT scores can be accepted from your transcript or must be sent directly from ACT. When registering for the ACT during senior year, include college school codes so scores are sent automatically. Four score reports are free; additional reports require a fee. Scores can also be sent later through your ACT online account.
8. Continue taking the ACT if needed for admission or scholarship eligibility. Most colleges accept ACT scores throughout senior year for admission, but scholarship deadlines may occur earlier. Review scholarship sections on college websites carefully.
9. Submit housing or enrollment deposits after acceptance. Once admitted, submit the housing or enrollment deposit to secure your place. Review each college’s refund and deadline policies. Many deposits are refundable or partially refundable until early spring.
10. Visit college campuses when possible. Campus visits help you learn more about academic programs and extracurricular opportunities. Visiting before applying is recommended, but if a fall visit is not possible, do not delay submitting your application.
11. Apply for outside scholarships in addition to college-based scholarships.
12. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after Oct. 1. Submit FAFSA information directly to the colleges you are considering using the school codes listed on the FAFSA website. Use only official FAFSA websites such as FAFSA.gov or StudentAid.gov. Meeting FAFSA deadlines improves eligibility for financial aid. The Missouri state deadline is Apr. 1, and the federal deadline is June 30. Colleges may list preferred deadlines, meaning earlier submission is recommended.
13. Compare financial aid packages and narrow your choices. Review financial aid offers along with academic programs, campus environment, and overall fit. This process typically occurs in Mar. or Apr.. May 1 is often the deadline for deposit refunds at schools you decide not to attend, but policies vary.
14. Request your final high school transcript. Submit a final transcript request through XELLO to send your transcript to the college you will attend. This request is part of the senior packet provided during second semester.
15. Attend college orientation or registration sessions. Orientation sessions typically occur between May and Aug., depending on the college.
16. Send AP scores or college credit information. If you completed Advanced Placement exams or earned college credit, request that scores or transcripts be sent to your college of choice. AP credit policies are available on individual college websites or through the College Board.
17. Send dual credit transcripts if applicable. If you completed dual credit courses, request that the college where the credit was earned send an official transcript to the college you will attend. This process is completed online and may require a small fee.
18. Use A+ Program participation when applicable. Some four-year colleges offer scholarships for students who completed the A+ Program. Even if funding is not offered, listing tutoring or community service hours can strengthen scholarship applications. Refer to A+ Program information on the school website for participating colleges.

8. Request that your final high school transcript be sent to St. Charles Community College through XELLO. This request is part of the senior packet distributed in April.
9. Consider additional community colleges based on your academic program. Options may include St. Louis Community College or State Technical College of Missouri (formerly Linn State). Review A+ Program information for a complete list of colleges that accept the A+ grant.
