Curriculum
What is the purpose of curriculum?
The purpose of the K-12 curriculum in Missouri is to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills for success after graduation, whether they pursue college, other post-secondary training, or a career. This is achieved through a framework known as the Missouri Learning Standards (MLS). Curriulum serves as a road map to guide teachers in planning lessons and assessing student knowledge and skills. Standards anchor student learning to ensure all students in the Wentzville School District (WSD) are recieving the highest quality education.
Things to remember about curriculum:
- WSD Academic Services Content Leaders guide teacher teams in devloping standards based curriculum for WSD students.
- WSD curriculum and resources are provided to the board of education for review and approval.
- WSD curriculum is reviewed on an annual basis.
- WSD Curriculum is developed with Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) guidance and standards.
- All WSD schools share the same curriculum in a given grade or content area.
