-Northeast Community Action Corporation-
The North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) is one of 19 not-for-profit Community Action Agencies in Missouri and more than 1,000 across the United States. For almost 50 years, NECAC has been managing and delivering an abundance of social service, community health and public housing programs to the low-income, elderly, youth, disabled and disadvantaged through contracts and grants with federal, state and local governments, other not-for-profit agencies and private businesses. With 12 counties in its service area, NECAC is the largest of the 19 Missouri agencies in geographical territory. NECAC has maintained a strong presence among government agencies, social service organizations, local civic groups and businesses in all 12 counties.
As part of a partnership between the Northeast Community Action Corporation and Pearce Hall, NECAC generously delivers financial fitness courses to every student at Pearce Hall over the course of the school year. In theses courses, students experience the interrelationship between today’s financial decisions and future financial freedom. To achieve financial health and wellness, they learn about money-management strategies, including earning, employment and income, budgeting, savings, credit and debt, consumer protection, smart shopping, risk management, and investing. When they finish the program, students are able to demonstrate that their personal finances affect their quality of life. They understand how their financial choices will be the basis of how they get what they want and need.
In addition to their student financial fitness courses, NECAC serves as a true partner to the school and community, helping to connect students and parents with additional resources available in their area and finding sources of critical funding for school programs and family education related to work readiness, housing, and financial security.
